Materials:

  • (2) 4x15” rectangles of fabric

  • (2) 3.5x7" rectangles of batting

  • (2) 2.5"-wide pieces of 3/4" Velcro (one piece from the hook side and one from the loop side)

  • Wonder clips

  • Point turner

Assemble the Sunglasses Case

  1. Fold each fabric rectangle in half. Press to mark the center.

  2. Position one piece of Velcro on the bottom half of each fabric rectangle. The Velcro should be centered (3/4" from each side) and approximately 3/8" below the fold. Pin the Velcro in place.

3. Sew the Velcro in place, backstitching at the beginning and end of your seam to secure the stitches.

4. Position the fabric rectangles right side down. Layer a batting rectangle on each fabric strip, centering it on the bottom half.

5. Then, fold each fabric rectangle in half with wrong sides together and the batting sandwiched in the middle.

6. Lay one folded piece on a flat surface with the Velcro side facing down. Layer the second folded piece on top with the Velcro facing up. The folds should both be on the top.

7. Pin or clip the layers together to hold all the layers in place.

8. Sew along the side and bottom edges using a 1/4" seam allowance. Backstitch at the beginning and end to secure your stitches. (Do no sew the folded top edge.)

9. Clip the bottom corners just outside the seam to reduce bulk.

10. Turn the sunglasses case right side out, using a point turner to push out the corners.

11. Topstitch the sides and bottom of the sunglasses case using a 3/8" seam allowance to encase the raw seams inside and finish the case. Backstitch at the beginning and end of the seam to secure the stitches.
